Hey guys, Im thinking of getting a headset for Xfire and other IMs and listening to music (the family's geting pissed of with high bass songs and repeated granade explosions on maps like arroyo). Any way i was wondering what headsets you guys use, and any recomendations you have. My price range is really anything up to £100, although less money for good quality is good lol.
Thanks in advance, J

Looks pretty awesome, does it make any difference if Headsets make use of the Mic and audio output plugs or the usb socket?

Can I ask why, are they bad quality? More expensive? Need a special soundcard?

Yer I noticed, thats why I asked the question. Ive already got earphones for my mp3 player, and tbh i dont want to walk around with a headset with a mic in public, for obvious reasons lol. I'm still confused why Quik saiid not to get a usb headset. I mean i am running out of USB ports but i can easily make room by leaving wires for my phone etc unplugged unless i need them, so i would only show a slight preference to a non-usb, i wouldnt pay more for a non usb. A good point for the headset you suggested ,Slick, is that its quite durable. On the other hand apparently its not compatible with quite a few games. Have you experience any of this Slick?
Thanks, J

If you ever decide to get a sound card in the future, USB headsets will not work on your sound card. If you plan to use the motherboard audio, you should be fine.

hmm, I'm using Realtek HD, so that might mean i should go for the mic and earphone sockets instead of USB. I used some crappy old earphones today and I worked so much better then when i could hear the TV and the family in the background. Its convinced me to defintly get a headset, before it was just a probably. ty Slick and Quick J

Well Realtek HD is onboard audio so you will probably be fine with USB. I'm just old school and prefer jacks i guess hahaha. I have a USB headset but I don't use it because it won't work with my Creative sound card.

Oh and does getting a soundcard improve the audio a huge amount? Its just that my hearing isnt as good as it used to be since i took up shooting rifels and shotguns, really its only the right ear that ive noticed a change in though. And yes, I know i should wear ear defenders, its just theyre never around when i need them lol J

It does improve the audio a lot. for music, movies and games you will notice a difference. And you can adjust your headphones to output louder in your bad ear so both ears appear equal.

i have the headset that slick put the link up for, its amazing thought the only bad thing about it is sometimes the mic doesn't un-mute and that the G-keys are a little too touchy other then that they are great.
